The concept.

Calma Nórdica is a home for travellers to enjoy the most serene and natural region of Galicia.

Located in the Ortegal county, La Calma offers exclusive accommodation where you can relax and enjoy the warmth of its interior while taking in the breathtaking views spreading over the Ortigueira estuary and the A Capelada mountain range.

The project, unique to Galicia, stems from the determination to bet on an architectural style which has little to do with the typical Galician rural houses and, yet, blends seamlessly into its surroundings. Our intent has been to put all our faith in the beauty of simplicity and innovation of architecture and landscaping.

Outdoors.

Located on a completely private estate, La Calma is surrounded by a patio and multi-level garden with terraces, overlooking an apple orchard that blooms wondrously in late spring.

The garden, which has been designed with the greatest care, creates an infinity effect. The intent was to maintain a natural sense of integration with the adjacent land and surroundings.

There is a vegetable garden in the lower part of the estate with seasonal produce and herbs for your favourite salads.

Indoors.

The light at Calma Nórdica is a fundamentally distinctive element in the space, as is the pine wood, which provides great warmth and a homely feel. The house opens to the garden and overlooks the estuary which creates a sense of being surrounded by nature while in the comfort of your home.

On the upper floor, Calma Nórdica consists of a on suite bedroom (with a 180 x 200 cm bed) with bathroom and dressing room. There are also areas for keeping fit, working, as well as a reading corner; all with views of the estuary.

On the ground floor there are two double bedrooms (one with a 180 x 200 cm bed and the other with two 90 x 200 cm beds), a bathroom, a laundry room as well as a living and dining area. The open plan kitchen which gives you the feeling of cooking outside with its spaciousness and natural light.

The surroundings.

Calma Nórdica is located in the Ortegal county and at a short distance from emblematic places such as the cliffs of Loiba, San Andrés de Teixido, and Cabo Ortegal.

Situated close to some of the best beaches in Galicia and boasting privileged views over the estuary, the natural beauty and incredible sites are endless. You can visit the Sierra de A Capelada, of international geological interest, go bird watching in the specially protected area of the estuary, or attend the Festival Internacional do Mundo Celta (International Celtic Festival), the greatest exponent of traditional music in Galicia.

Our region offers numerous activities for an active traveller, from horseback riding, kayaking, and cycling routes to surfing at iconic beaches such as Pantín, Esteiro, or Espasante, all very popular with local surfeiros.

In the fishing villages of Cedeira and Cariño you can enjoy the local cuisine characterised by a wide variety of fish and shellfish, among which the Ortegal barnacles stand out as being an exquisite and highly appreciated delicacy.
